The APP Tour's Sunmed Sacramento Open was a five-day pickleball tournament held at Johnson Ranch Pickleball Complex in Roseville, California, from April 26-30, 2023. More than 700 players, including 500 amateurs, participated in the event.
The tournament featured singles, doubles, and mixed doubles competition for both amateur and professional players. The professional divisions were headlined by some of the top pickleball players in the world, including Parris Todd, Hunter and Yates Johnson, Megan Fudge, Simone Jardim, Andrei Daescu, Susannah Barr, and Pesa Teoni.
In the men's pro singles final, Yates Johnson defeated his brother Hunter to win his first career APP Tour gold medal. In the women's pro singles final, Judit Castillo earned her first career gold medal. Todd and Jardim won their fourth consecutive women's pro doubles gold medal, while Daescu and Teoni won their second straight men's pro doubles gold medal. Daescu and Barr defended their mixed pro doubles title to conclude the tournament.
The APP Sunmed Sacramento Open was a major success, with a record number of players participating and a high level of competition. The tournament was a great showcase for the growth of pickleball in the United States.
