Just played some practice matches with Erik Lange, my partner, against Nicole Eugenio and Kyle Koszuta and we were playing well ust trying to get a good sweat in, and get some doubles reps after a singles day. The highlight of the afternoon is Brandon Lane and Glauka went to a coffee shop and they brought me back an iced matcha, and if you know me, I am a sucker for iced matcha so looking forward to that, I'm going to get stretched out and we'll head home.

Just came off the court. I lost 14-16, in the third. I did have a match point, but Bobby just hit a winner, so not too bummed about my loss. Kind of a win, win when you make it to the quarterfinals, because either you win and you're in the semis or you lose and you don't have to keep playing backdraw matches. So yeah, taking away a lot of good things from singles.
I still haven't eaten lunch, so I will be doing that. I do see the food tins are here, so we're good.
I pretty much put a hole in my shoe. As I was warming up this morning, I could feel the ground when I was hitting and I looked down and realized I should have started new shoes earlier this week and not tomorrow, but you know, at least I made it through the day. I'll have a fresh pair of shoes tomorrow, and I'm going to stick around and watch some more friends, and probably get in some mixed practice with Erik Lange this afternoon and enjoy the nice Southern California weather. Maybe I'll go to the beach, I don't know, maybe go home. I have no dinner plans and I did not make anything for my husband at home. So good luck to him. A good day overall and excited to get back at it tomorrow in mixed!

I just came off my next match, and I ended up winning 16-14 in the third against Domi, so I'm into the quarterfinals. I played really well. Felt like at the end, I was just executing shots well. Now I am very ready to take a break and get some food. I don't think they're serving lunch yet in the tent, so I just have to survive off of more bananas, some granola bars, whatever I can scrounge up in the tent. Then I'll probably just walk around and watch some of the guys, they're about to start. My friend Max is about to go, so I'll probably stick around and watch that one. I'm not sure if Yana is still playing, so if she is, I'll try to go find her and yeah, I'll just rest until I have my quarterfinals match and eventually get some some actual lunch in there.

I just finished my first singles match. It was so long I don't even remember the score of the first game, and then I think I lost the second, 18-20 and then the third I won 17-15. Quite honestly, with how I played, I probably should have lost that match, because she was playing a lot more consistently than I was, but I just grinded it out and happy I got the win. I had a match point, blew that one, thought I might blow the whole match, but I ended up pulling it out. So I have Domi in the next round, and I'm just ready to go out there, play hard and have fun, not care too much about the results and just get some more good warm up.

Welcome to the 2025 Zimmer Biomet APP Newport Beach Open! I'm super excited because this is my home tournament. Last year, this is where I won my first gold medal, so trying to obviously do the same this week. Today's singles day, I woke up before the crack of dawn, and I could have slept in a little bit more, but I really didn't want to hit traffic, so I braved the darkness, got some Starbucks, and I'm here. James is going to stretch me out to get me physically and mentally prepared for singles day, which is not my favorite, but it's a good warm up day, so just going into the day with that mindset, and trying to have some fun. My uncle is coming today so I'll have one family member here, and the rest of the days will be a lot of family members so I'm just excited for the weekend.
