The world’s first and world’s best pickleball tour returns to the legendary USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for six days of elite pickleball action, culminating in an exciting Championship Saturday slate. Pickleball players from around the world will hit the courts to battle for hardware, featuring amateurs of all ages, pickleball’s elite pros and the AARP Champions (50+) and AARP Masters (60+) divisions, plus the return of the season-long Humana Cup competition.
The 2025 Zimmer Biomet APP New York City Open is also a USA Pickleball Golden Ticket event, meaning gold medalists earn the right to secure their spot at the 2025 USAP National Championships.
In addition to national television coverage on ESPN2, the APP Tour is bringing four full days of livestream coverage on Championship Court on ESPN Plus.
With Golden Tickets, APP Passports and more record-breaking history on the line, the Big Apple will host some big action. Here are the top storylines heading into the 2025 Zimmer Biomet APP New York City Open.
BACK IN THE BIG APPLE
The APP Tour returns to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for the fourth time in its history. Known as one of the most legendary venues in all of sports and home of the U.S. Open tennis tournament, the 2025 Zimmer Biomet APP NYC Open will host the world's best pickleball pros in the shadows of Arthur Ashe Stadium.
HISTORY MADE IN CINCY
With a gold medal and silver medal at the APP Vlasic Classic in Cincinnati, Megan Fudge officially became the APP Tour's all-time leader in total career medals. Now with 70 career medals, Fudge is the most decorated pro in APP Tour history and looks to add to her total in New York.
ALL EYES ON CHRIS
Chris Haworth has 10 career APP Tour men's pro singles gold medals, tied for the most-all time. As the bracket's top seed, Haworth can take his place atop the record books with one more gold in New York City.
SUPERB SOFIA
Sofia Sewing has been dominant on the women's pro singles circuit to start 2025, appearing in all five finals and taking home three golds. Sewing won the women's singles gold medal in Cincinnati and will look to return atop the podium in NYC. The Coconut Creek, Fla. native also earned her first career doubles medal in Fort Lauderdale earlier this season, earning bronze alongside Shelby Bates.
GOLDIN AGAIN
Grayson Goldin won his second career gold medal at the APP Vlasic Classic in Cincinnati, taking home the men's singles title there for the second straight year. Goldin returns as the No. 2 seed in NYC to defend his crown.
MONEY MUNRO
Jack Munro has six gold medals in five APP Tour events to start 2025, including winning all five men's doubles gold medals alongside Will Howells. The 21-year-old pairs up once again with Megan Fudge as the top seeds in mixed pro doubles - the duo have earned one gold and three silvers thus far together this season. Last year in New York, Munro took the men's doubles title alongside Mario Barrientos.
OSHIRO ALL DAY
Bobbi Oshiro is a perfect 4-for-4 in gold medal matches in 2025, bringing home the titles in mixed doubles three times and women's doubles once. Oshiro teams up with fellow Floridian Randy Blanco in mixed doubles and with Allison Harris in women's doubles in New York.
AMAZING ARMAAN
In his first-ever APP Tour event, Armaan Bhatia made a statement, cruising through the men's singles draw en route to the silver medal. Bhatia is the top-ranked men's player from India, and looks to continue his dream start in New York.
DYNAMIC DUO
Emily Cederquist and Yana Newell are back in action as the No. 2 seeds in New York City, seeking their fourth straight medal as a duo. Cederquist and Newell have earned a gold, a silver and a bronze medal together in the past three APP Tour events.
RAISING THE BARR
Susannah Barr took home two bronze medals last year in New York and is back for more hardware. The Boise, Idaho native is the APP Tour's all-time total medal leader in women's pro doubles (34) and mixed pro doubles (women - 21). Barr's 55 total medals are the third-most all-time among all APP Tour pros.
