The Association of Pickleball Players (APP), in conjunction with the sport’s national governing body USA Pickleball (USAP), announced that its APP Tour events in Sacramento and Miami will be auto-qualifier events that provide gold medal winners a “Golden Ticket” to pre-register to play in the 2024 Biofreeze USA Pickleball National Championships. The APP Tour stops are the first two 2024 events to be announced as Golden Tickets to the premier USAP National Championships.
“We’re delighted that the 2024 APP Sacramento Open and APP Miami Open will be ‘Golden Ticket’ events, as these auto-qualifier opportunities have been some of our most popular tournaments,” said APP Founder Ken Herrmann. “I am pleased to know that the 2024 USAP National Championships will be run by the national governing body and provide talented players the national platform they deserve. We look forward to the extra level of excitement in Sacramento and Miami, especially now that the opportunity for national recognition is on the line.”
“The APP is rightly renowned as providing pickleball players of all levels with an exemplary experience at their tournaments, thus fully justifying designating a number of their events as Golden Tickets,” said Mike Nealy, USA Pickleball CEO. “We’re looking forward to seeing the APP return to Sacramento; and we’re excited to see the Miami event, as the first APP Tour Major of the year, taking place in a truly iconic city.”
Players interested in competing for a gold medal and a guaranteed spot at the USAP National Championships can register now for the APP’s Golden Ticket events on PickleballBrackets.com.
The 2024 APP Miami Open is a five-day indoor tournament and the first of four APP Tour Majors in the new year. The tournament will begin on March 20 with the inaugural APP Atlantic Cup—a historic event that pits Team USA against Team Europe in the first-ever international team competition for pickleball professionals. It will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, offering all the amenities of world-class outdoor pickleball tournament experience while in a climate-controlled environment. Full event details, including team rosters, will be announced on theapp.global.
Before heading to South Florida, the APP returns to Northern California for the 2024 APP Sacramento Open. The March 6-10 event will be held in suburban Roseville for the third consecutive year at the Johnson Ranch Sports Club Pickleball Complex, boasting 24 dedicated pickleball courts.
The APP begins its 2024 campaign on January 3-7 in Westfield, Indiana, with the APP Midwest Open, an amateur only event, and the APP U.S. Collegiate Championships—an inaugural event featuring pickleball teams and players from top colleges across the country. The full 2024 schedule, recent news and additional information about the APP are available at theapp.global and on Instagram, X, Threads, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn.
