A historic season has reached its final destination, as the APP Tour returns to Chicago for the final tournament of the season – the State Farm 2023 APP U.S. Indoor Championships, held November 29 - December 3 in Rosemont, IL.
After a thrilling 2023 APP Chicago Open back in September, amateurs of all ages, pickleball’s elite pros, and the AARP Champions (50+) and Masters (60+) Divisions will participate in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles competition throughout the week.
Once more, the stage is set for world-class pickleball competition, as Susannah Barr, Andrei Daescu, Megan Fudge, Rob Nunnery and more look to defend their titles. APP Tour mainstays Shelby Bates, Ryler DeHeart, Vivian Glozman, Simone Jardim, Hunter Johnson, Yates Johnson, Will Sobek, Parris Todd, Alix Truong, Lee Whitwell and members of the APP Next Gen National Team all return to action in Rosemont.
Andrei the Giant
Andrei Daescu leads all APP men’s pros with 27 total medals and 19 gold medals in 2023. The Romania native won two golds at the 2023 APP Houston Open – one in men’s pro doubles alongside Rob Nunnery, and the other in mixed pro doubles with Susannah Barr. Daescu and Nunnery have won four straight men’s pro doubles titles together this year and seven total, while Daescu and Barr have six mixed pro doubles golds as a team.
No Stopping Fudge-Barr
Megan Fudge leads all APP women’s pros with 27 total medals in 2023, including six golds. Fudge earned another women’s pro doubles title alongside Susannah Barr in Houston – marking their third in a row, dating back to the 2023 APP Sunmed Atlanta Metro Open.
Texas Twinning
Hunter Johnson’s 23 total medals in 2023 are the second-most among all APP pros, and Yates Johnson’s 12 total medals are the fourth-most among APP men’s pros this season. The Johnson twins, natives of New Braunfels, TX, have taken home the men’s pro singles gold medal in 10 out of 14 APP Tour events this season.
Dynamic Duo
Vivian Glozman and Alix Truong teamed up for women’s pro doubles silver in Houston, marking their sixth consecutive tournament earning a medal. Glozman and Truong will team up once again in Rosemont with their sights set on gold.
Spectacular Simone
Simone Jardim returns to action with nine gold medals – all in women’s pro doubles – under her belt in 2023, the third-most among APP women’s pros this season. Eight of those golds were alongside Parris Todd, and one came with Allison Harris at the APP Sunmed New Jersey Open.
Parris Power
Parris Todd leads all APP women’s pros with 15 gold medals and has two Triple Crowns in 2023. Todd and Hunter Johnson recently took home gold in mixed pro doubles at the APP Dallas Open, and she and Jardim have won eight women’s pro doubles golds together this season.
Hometown Kid
John Cincola returns to his home city, where he earned men’s doubles gold alongside Stefan Auvergne at the 2023 APP Chicago Open back in September. Cincola played Division I college tennis at University of Illinois-Chicago from 2003-04.
Dominique Dominates
Dominique Schaefer returns to action in Chicago, where she took home women’s singles gold back in September. Schaefer also previously won gold at the 2023 APP Sunmed St. Louis Open, and bronze at the 2023 APP Newport Beach Open.
