It's that time of year when traditions take over our households, familiar foods make up the menus, and fun family activities replace daily routines. We talked to some of our APP pros and found out what their favorite Thanksgiving traditions are. Spoiler alert: nobody said "pickleball!"
"My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is usually my mom and my grandpa would cook this giant turkey, and I would always be the first one to one to steal the turkey leg. I love it." - Brandon Lane
"I don't know if I have too many traditions on Thanksgiving, but I do feel like Thanksgiving is the best American holiday. It feels the most wholesome, and the families get together. It's the least commercial, so I love that. I'm vegetarian, so I don't eat turkey. Usually we get just like a vegetarian Turkey thing." - Max "Purple Jesus" Manthou
"My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is the family get-togethers and the stuffing." - Jayden Broderick
"My favorite Thanksgiving tradition definitely is the stuffing. My grandma makes Vietnamese stuffing, and it's the best!" - Brooke Revuelta
"My favorite thanksgiving tradition would have to be playing sports with my family. So that could be like football or golf, it really just depends on the weather and the day, there's always some type of competition in the family." - Grayson Goldin
"Favorite Thanksgiving tradition has to be Jim Baker. I've been in my wife's family for 21 years now, going to Thanksgiving. There was this gentleman named Jim Baker, I've never met, who created this dessert which had a graham cracker crust, a lemon-type filling, and whipped cream on top. So it was the dessert along with the usual desserts, but this thing was featured, it was special. It's unique to our Thanksgiving. So that's what makes the memory so special, was Jim Baker. I would say it was actually called the Jim Baker Salad, even though it was a dessert. So yeah, tricky, but it was tasty, and that's all that mattered." - Erik Lange
"Honestly, just a typical Thanksgiving: turkey, mashed potatoes, and my mom's special creamed onions." - Shelby Bates
"Favorite tradition is just spending time with family. We used to go to my grandma's house every year for 20 years, and now my parents live in the house that my grandparents lived in, so we still get to go to the same house and continue that tradition. So just spending time with family." - Chris Haworth
"Favorite Thanksgiving tradition, I would say pumpkins - everything to do with pumpkins." - Ryler DeHeart
"Favorite Thanksgiving tradition is being with my entire family. My mom is one of 10, so we have a giant family, and we all sit around the same table. It's usually like 30 people all in one house. Everybody brings a dish, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandma, grandpas. It's so fun, and it's back in Kansas City, where I'm from, so I never miss a holiday. And the best part of Thanksgiving for me is green bean casserole, obviously, it's the best. We also go watch the lights turn on on the Plaza, which is an outdoor shopping center in KC, so super big tradition. And then we go up to my grandma's condo and watch the fireworks. Lots of stuff going on, and super fun!" - Zack Taylor
No matter what your traditions are: old, new, or nonexistent, from all of us at the APP, we wish you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving full of all the things you're thankful for!
